Artist Statement
I create functional organic vessels with sculptural elements - fluid objects that feel alive. I construct forms through throwing and altering, then choose surface designs that respond to each piece's unique character.
Using play, creativity, and curiosity, I balance skill with the practice of joy. This informs my process in expanding spirals, each iteration deepening both my technical and conceptual range. This approach creates objects that interact naturally with the body and stimulate the mind in pleasant, therapeutic ways.
I make families, not twins. My bodies of work vary greatly, reflecting different moments of exploration. After a four-year gap during profound personal transformation, I returned to clay in 2024. One collection, Uncle Iroh's teapot, marks that journey, a project I'd dreamed of since 2020 but only had the capacity to complete across 2024-2025, while sharing the process to connect with others.
I'm inspired by the innate human desire to transform raw materials into vessels- functional objects that nourish daily life, enhance personal space, and encourage human connection. My work completes itself in use, in community, facilitating human bonds through the ancient ritual of sharing food from handmade objects.
My creative mantra: Eat nourishing food from handmade dishes with kind people.
